How I Teach and Why It Works

I’m not a general math tutor who covers IB as one of many subjects. I’m an IB Mathematics tutor and it is the only thing I teach. AA SL, AA HL, AI SL, AI HL. That is my entire focus. I know the syllabus, the past papers, and the mark schemes because I work with them every day.

My Story

I am Abdulhamid. I hold a degree in mathematics, which I completed with top honours, and I teach IB Mathematics, AA and AI, SL and HL, with real passion. After more than 7,000 IB Math lessons, I know this subject inside out, the syllabus, every exam, and the Internal Assessment, down to the detail that decides a grade.

My foundation is in the mathematics itself. I understand it deeply enough to teach any topic in whatever way a student needs to see it, whether they want the quickest route to the answer or cannot move on until they understand why it works. I also know its shortcuts, its common traps, and the small moves that earn marks across a full paper.

Most tutors can explain the math. Far fewer can show you how to structure an answer the way IB examiners want to see it. What separates a 5 from a 7 is not only the math. It is knowing how marks are earned, and years of teaching have shown me exactly where they are won and lost. When I read a student’s work, I see where marks are being lost, often in places no one has pointed out before, and I show the student exactly what to change.

I know this subject inside out, down to the detail that decides a grade.

I have taught IB students across more than 40 countries, from Dubai to Switzerland to Hong Kong and Singapore. I also stay with most of my students for the long run, often from the start of the diploma through to graduation, two years of building toward the grade they want.

I teach openly on my YouTube channel, IB Math Master, where students learn from the way I explain things. It is the same approach my students get one to one, only closer and built entirely around them.

None of this works without genuine care for how a student does, and that is the part I take most seriously. I care as much about how my students work between our sessions as during them, which is why I have spent years building their materials: revision sheets, worked examples, past paper questions organised by topic, and question banks for focused practice. These are not generic files found online. They are shaped around how IB examiners actually mark, so the hours a student puts in alone count directly toward their grade. I plan each student’s path to the grade they are capable of, and I stay involved the whole way, because their diploma matters to me as much as it does to them.

Common Questions

What students and parents ask most before getting started.

All four IB Mathematics courses: Analysis and Approaches HL and SL, and Applications and Interpretation HL and SL. The four are genuinely different, and I teach each on its own terms, with its own exams and expectations.

Yes. I guide students through the IA from choosing a topic to reviewing a final draft, criterion by criterion. I guide and give feedback on your own work. I do not write or edit it for you.

Sessions are one to one on Zoom. I review where you are, work through the material and real exam questions with you, and set focused practice for between sessions. Everything is planned around your target grade and your exam date.

Yes. I teach students across more than 40 countries, and sessions are arranged around your schedule.

After you apply, I reply within 12 hours. If it looks like a fit, I send you more on exactly how I work and what to expect, and we arrange a short consultation to plan the best way forward.
